Steve Plater has taken his second victory of the season in the latest round of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship after snatching the lead off Glen Richards on the final lap.

A heavily delayed race after the first start was red flagged following a big accident for James Dye and Ian Paton, Plater led for much of the race but looked to have lost his chance of the win when Richards passed him on lap eight.

Nonetheless, Plater stayed with the championship leader over the final few laps to breeze back through on the run down to Park before resisting Richards all the way to the chequered flag.

His home race too, Plater was joined on the podium by Richards and James Webb, who battled to third place by beating Cal Crutchlow's track record in the process. Hudson Kennaugh was fourth, but having led the race in the early stages, he will be disappointed to finish five seconds off the leaders in the end.

James Westmoreland held off the close attentions of Paul Young for fifth, while Rob Frost also had his mirrors full of another rider, this time title contender Ian Lowry, who was attempting to fight up from a lowly 16th starting position. Chris Martin and Tommy Bridewell rounded out the top ten.

Dye, meanwhile, was air-lifted to hospital before the restart after receiving lengthy on-track treatment. We will provide an update on his condition as and when we receive it.
