Peter Hickman has been drafted in to replace Aaron Zanotti on the Red Viper Honda for this weekend's Bennetts British Superbike round at Silverstone.
Zanotti injured himself in an accident last time out at Croft, but while he was hoping to fit in time for Silverstone, he has nonetheless decided to hand over the bike to Hickman for this weekend.
"It was a hard decision to make and I would like to thank Ady and Gary for all their support,” Zanotti said. I know I won't be able to give it 100 per cent at Silverstone, which is why I have decided not to ride. I'm still very stiff and unable to move around much, but I'm sure I will be fit enough for the last round at Brands in a couple of weeks time, where I will give it 110%."
Hickman, who formerly competed for Hawk Kawasaki in the British Superbike Championship, has been competing in Superstocks this season, where he is currently classified fifth in the standings. For team manager Ady Butterworth, he is an ideal substitute.
"It's a shame Aaron will not be riding this weekend and we wish him a speed recovery and hope to have him back on the bike for Brands. We would like to thank Peter for stepping in at short notice."
Hickman has already made a good impression, placing the bike 14th fastest in first free practice.
