Cal Crutchlow insists he would like to get back to winning ways on a Superbike before he makes the switch to Supersports in 2009 after recording his fourth pole of the season at Silverstone.
The HM Plant Honda rider has been a front runner all season, but has not won a race since the Brands Hatch event in May.
With his immediate future assured by a move to the Yamaha World Supersport team in 2009, Crutchlow admits he needs to revive his fortunes on Superbikes for his own confidence having faded in the fight for second place in the standings.
He is well positioned to do that too as he celebrates his second consecutive pole, although he is keen to make the most of it this time after struggling with race pace at Croft.
"It is great to be on pole again, we definitely need to get back to winning this weekend, and I do have some pressure on my shoulders now to do well on a Superbike before I head off next year and get back on a Supersport bike.
“But I have been riding well this weekend and the team have been working hard to put together a fantastic bike, so I need to thank them. Tomorrow I really want to convert the pole into two race wins, I am looking forward to getting out there tomorrow and I am excited about the races.
“I haven't been able to convert a pole position in to a win yet, but there is no reason why I can't win here tomorrow."
