Tom Sykes has been disqualified and moved back three rows on the grid second race after being blamed for the collision with Leon Haslam in the first British Superbike race at Silverstone.

Sykes was running third, behind leader Haslam and Cal Crutchlow, when he mis-judged a move at Brooklands and hit Haslam.

Taking both riders down, ending their faint title hopes in the process, Sykes has been removed from his 13th place finish, while he will now start on the fifth row of the grid for the second race too.

Their elimination meant Shane Byrne was crowned champion three races early.
