Haslam hails HM Plant after fifth win.

Leon Haslam has praised the HM Plant Honda team after soaring to his fifth British Superbike victory in seven races at Silverstone.

Haslam has been on stellar form since the Knockhill round of the championship, winning around the Scottish circuit before following it up with a double at Cadwell Park, a win at Croft and a win again at Silverstone.

It could have been a double victory too had Haslam not been taken down by an over ambitious Tom Sykes on the first outing, but while he admits he was disappointed at the missed opportunity, his dominance in the second race made up for that.

Cementing his second place in the standings, Haslam claims it is testament to the work done by the outgoing champions that he is beginning to dominate the second half of this season following tough start early on.

“It is credit to the team to see how far we have come this season,” he told Crash.net. “The bike has been fantastic. It is a shame we didn't get a double because I think we were on course for that, but I am over the moon with how the second race went.

“At Knockhill we had an electrical problem, we finished second at Croft and here we got taken out, so we have won nearly all of the last few races. It has been going well. I am feeling really confident with the team and the bike now, so it is all down to those guys.”

Haslam heads into the final round of the championship at Brands Hatch with an 18 point advantage over Sykes in the battle for the runners-up spot, with 50 up for grabs.
