Wright hails another title success.

Colin Wright is 'overjoyed' to have led GSE Racing to glory for the fourth time as they bid farewell to their Ducati machines in favour a Yamaha switch in 2009.

Shane Byrne clinched the 2008 Bennetts British Superbike Championship with three races in hand at Silverstone, putting the GSE team back on top after being edged by HM Plant for the last two seasons.

Achieving the team's aim of getting both riders inside the top five, Wright was delighted to hit their targets in such a formidable way.

“I am overjoyed,” he told Crash.net. “We reached our target, which was to have two riders inside the top five of the championship, so we are delighted. This is GSE Racing's fourth title and my fifth BSB Championship. They all rank exactly the same, right at the top.”

Labelling the working relationship with riders Byrne and Leon Camier as one of the most enjoyable he has experienced, Wright considers the title win the perfect gift to Ducati before they defect to Yamaha for next season.

“Working with Leon and Shane this year has been one of the most enjoyable, but winning the championship is what is all about and we have done that. The Airwaves Ducati has performed really well and while some people have put that down to luck, our aim is to finish the season well for them before we look forward to next year.

“This goes a long way to thanking Ducati to their support for the last ten years and I'm sure they'll go on to have more success without us. The sweetest thing, however, will be winning it again!”
