Byrne chasing winning farewell.

Newly crowned 2008 British Superbike champion Shane Byrne is aiming to return to the top step of the podium for the first time since June during Sunday's season-finale at Brands Hatch.

With Shakey moving to World Superbikes next season, this weekend's event might also mark his final BSB appearance - and the Airwaves Ducati star intends to go out on top.

"I'm absolutely delighted to have taken the British Superbike Championship at Silverstone for Airwaves Ducati and GSE Racing. Now I can't wait to go to Brands Hatch, GSE Racing's home circuit, and go out there and enjoy myself knowing that the championship is mine," he said. "I'm going to be pushing 100% to get back onto the top step of the podium and hopefully sign the season off in style!"

Team-mate and Silverstone race winner Leon Camier is also confident of a strong result.

"I've been training hard in the past fortnight so I will be heading to Brands Hatch in really good physical shape," he said. "I've won at each of the last couple of rounds and feel like we're on a roll so I'm looking forward to this weekend. Hopefully we will finish the season with another victory for the Airwaves Ducati team."

GSE, which will switch to Yamaha next season, heads into the final round with a 25 point lead over Honda in the manufacturers' standings.
