Kiyonari wins, Reynolds takes championship.

HM Honda's Ryuchi Kiyonari took the first race win at Donington Park British Superbikes, but Rizla Suzuki's John Reynolds, third behind second placed Michael Rutter, took enough points to secure his third ever BSB championship.

Kiyonari rode a faultless ride from his pole position, getting the whole shot into the first corner, and then proceeding to dominate the race to the finish line

Michael Rutter and John Reynolds were side by side from the start into the first corner with Rutter coming off better slotting into second position.

Reynolds was relegated into sixth behind fifth placed Hawk Rider Glen Richards. Hawk Team-mate Scott Smart had an excellent start which saw him catapult from ninth to third by the first corner, he led Monstermob's Sean Emmett in fourth.

Within a few corners of the first lap Reynolds had taken Richards to take fifth.

Steve Plater tangled with Kieran Clarke at Craner Curve on the first lap, causing Plater some injury. As a result the safety car was called into action for the two laps it took for the marshals to clear Platers bike from the track.

Following the restart on the fourth lap Emmett and Richards got the drive on Smart and Reynolds to take third and forth spots respectively.

This seemed to spur Reynolds into life first taking Smart, and then Richards on the fifth lap, at the Melbourne Loop.

Reynolds then spent the next two laps behind Emmett before taking him also at the Melbourne Loop on the seventh lap to take third spot.

Here he stayed for the remainder of the race behind Rutter, knowing that if he crossed the line in this position he would secure the championship which he surely did to take his third and Rizla Suzuki's first BSB championship.

At the front Kiyonari was untouchable, as he had been all weekend, and extended his lead every lap to finally finish over seven seconds ahead of second placed Rutter.

There was a tight battle for fourth place between Smart and Emmett.
