Kiyonari dominates opening Croft race.

The HM Plant Hondas of Ryuichi Kiyonari and Michael Rutter dominated the first race of round six of the Bennett's British Superbike Championship as they led Airwaves Ducati rider Gregorio Lavilla across the finish line.

Initially Rutter took the lead from Kiyonari and then it was the two Hawk Kawasakis of Dean Thomas and Glen Richards followed by the Airwaves Ducati team of Lavilla and Leon Haslam. Lavilla was all over the back of the Kawasakis but didn't wait long to make his move on them taking fourth place on lap three, and then third place on lap five. His team-mate Leon Haslam came home in sixth place after quite a battle with Johnny Rea and Glen Richards.

Johnny Rea on the Red Bull Honda who started from the front row of the grid after yet another superb performance in qualifying had a great race. He finished in seventh place after putting some superb moves on more experienced riders, the more often he runs at the front the more he will learn from the other experienced riders.

Another young Irish rider who had a good race and finished in fourth was Michael Laverty on the Stobart Honda. He passed Richards on lap ten to take fourth place and stayed there ahead of other more experienced Superbike riders. This is Michael's first season in Superbike having raced in Supersport previously.

Current Championship leader John Reynolds crashed out on lap twenty when trying to pass Vivaldi's Ben Wilson. Reynolds went under Wilson who didn't realise he was there, Wilson then tried to turn in and they both got tangled up with one another. They managed to lift both bikes and run straight on, Reynolds finally fell from his machine but at much lower speed. His team mate Scott Smart finished in thirteenth place.
