Kiyonari does the double at Silverstone.

Ryuichi Kiyonari took a dominant double at Silverstone to pull back his championship points for his HM Plant Honda team.

Gregorio Lavilla on the black Airwaves Ducati took second place with his team-mate Leon Haslam in third. With Haslam crashing in race one and Kiyo doing the double the championship has now closed up so that just nine points cover the three riders. Lavilla is leading by one point from Kiyonari and Haslam is third, nine points behind Lavilla.

Off the line it was Haslam who got away clear of Kiyonari, that didn't last long as the pair leaned on one another all lap. Tommy Hill's race was short lived when he had a coming together with Johnny Rea on lap one which resulted in Hill parting company with his Virgin Mobile Yamaha.

One lap later and it was Kiyo who was on the move scything under Haslam at the tight Woodcote chicane. Lavilla and Haslam were battling hammer and tongs, Lavilla made his decisive move also at Woodcote to take second place from Haslam.

The top three settled into a race rhythm with Kiyo pulling a lead of 5.202secs. The battle continued further down the field with Johnny Rea on the Red Bull Honda fighting it out with Shane Byrne on the Rizla Suzuki. Lap six Byrne shot by Rea and held him off for a number of laps. Rea got his own back on lap fifteen with a strong move at Maggots, Byrne continued to chase and ran wide a lap later. It looked like Rea had fourth place in the bag until the very last lap when Byrne pipped him at the Woodcote chicane.

Karl Harris had a very lucky escape when he lost the front of his HM Plant Honda on lap fourteen. He got out of shape over the rumble strips but saved it on his knee as his left foot came off the peg.

Chris Martin came home in third place in the Privateer's Cup but it was enough to give him the title which he picked up in commemoration of his younger brother Ashley who lost his life following a crash at Cadwell Park.
