Ryuichi Kiyonari took the race one win at Croft relegating his team-mate Jonathan Rea to second place at round ten of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
Completing the podium was Superbike rookie Tom Sykes on the Stobart Honda. This is the first time he has claimed a podium in the top flight class and he was over joyed as he came over the line punching the air.
Off the line it was Rea who got the hole shot with pole sitter Cal Crutchlow in second place. The blue Rizla Suzuki of Crutchlow was soon relegated to third by a Kiyo who set about hunting down his young team-mate. Sykes was holding off the attentions of Gregorio Lavilla who did manage to pass him on lap two.
Rea started to pull a lead which he extended to 0.232secs over Kiyo who fought back and took the lead from him at the final corner on lap seven. Crutchlow was coming under fire from Lavilla while Sykes was dealing with Leon Haslam.
Sykes got by Lavilla on lap ten and started chasing down his former Supersport rival, Crutchlow. On lap sixteen he made his move to claim third place from Crutchlow.
Haslam and Lavilla had to settle for fifth and sixth places respectively. Leon Camier on the Bike Animal Honda took seventh place with Chris Walker on the second Rizla machine in eighth. Shane Byrne, who crashed out twice in qualifying, finished in ninth place with Tommy Hill on the Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha in tenth place.
