So if you are taken out by another rider, you are penalised for his mistake. Safety is an important thing, but their is a lot of ways when oil or fuel can get to the track, for example two bikes hitting each other without crash, or a single technical mistake. I think this last one is even more common than spraying oil by a rejoined bike.
Safety is really important issue, but maybe they do more damage with this rule than gain. Losing track time at practice, losing points in the showdown etc.
Maybe they should have thought about banning rider aids, because the last race (especially Haga's start) was THE dangerous thing.
