Eugene Laverty on the Red Bull Honda has taken up the number on spot in free practice one for round eight of the British Supersport Championship at Knockhill in Scotland.
He lapped under the existing lap record with a time of 50.907secs; just 0.7secs off his time was Leon Camier on the Northpoint Ekerold machine. Tom Sykes on the TAS Suzuki split the Northpoint riders for third place leaving championship leader Cal Crutchlow in fourth place.
Laverty is currently nineteen points shy of Crutchlow's championship lead but he is going out this weekend for the win and to reel back in as many points as possible.
