Johnny Rea on the Red Bull Honda obliterated the lap record during first free practice at Silverstone for round twelve of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
The lap record currently belongs to Gregorio Lavilla and stands at 1min 26.681secs, Rea sailed under that with a 1min 25.901secs. The top five were all under the lap record but Rea was the only person to hit the 1min 25s.
Ryuichi Kiyonari on the HM Plant Honda was running in second place with Championship leader, Leon Haslam on the Airwaves Ducati in third. His team-mate Gregorio Lavilla was running in fourth place and Karl Harris on the second HM Plant machine was fifth.
This weekend the Airwaves Ducati team are running in a new impressive all black livery to celebrate the launch of Airwaves Black Mint chewing gum.
The first of the Rizla Suzuki's home was Shane Byrne in sixth place, while his team-mate James Haydon who is making his return from injury was in thirteenth place. Tommy Hill on the Virgin Mobile Yamaha was running seventh, just ahead of Stobart Honda's Michael Rutter.
Simon Andrews was running in the top ten once again on the Jentin Racing Yamaha finishing in ninth, with Hawk Kawasaki's Dean Thomas rounding out the top ten.
