After a rollercoaster 2011 campaign, during which his reputation descended almost as swiftly as it had ascended, Alex Lowes found some stability in 2012 with a return to WFR Honda and set about going back-to-basics to revive his status as a future motorcycling star.
Adopting a conservative approach during the first phase of the season, Lowes had barely registered as a 'Title Showdown' contender before bursting into contention with a pole position and a podium finish at Cadwell Park. Snatching that sixth and final 'Title Showdown' spot, Lowes grasped his renewed opportunity with both hands with a confident display over the final three rounds.
Beginning with podiums at Assen, Lowes's trio of pole positions and two stunning victories at Silverstone transformed him into a wholly unexpected title contender.
