Stuart Easton made a welcome return to BSB competition this season having recovered from the horrifying injuries that sidelined him for much of 2011, the Scot landing at Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki as Paul Bird came good on his earlier pledge to keep a seat free for him in 2012.
Given the extent of his injuries, sustained in a high-speed accident during the 2011 North West 200, Easton’s run to the podium in only his third event back raised smiles and hopes of a run to the ‘Title Showdown’.
As it happens, a mid-season injury that kept him out of action for two rounds would scupper those dreams, but top five finishes at Donington and Brands Hatch on his return would at least squeeze him into the top ten overall. All things considered, it was a confident comeback for Easton in 2012.
