Team RAC has announced that Tom Onslow-Cole will not be returning for a second year with the team in the 2008 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a fine debut season in the BTCC after stepping up from the Renault Clio Cup, taking a maiden win at Snetterton en-route to tenth in the championship standings.

Onslow-Cole also took three further podium finishes alongside Colin Turkington in the first season for the WSR-run team with the BMW, but is now hoping to secure a drive elsewhere for a second year of touring car competition.

"Team RAC would like to thank Tom for his efforts with us in 2007," team principal Dick Bennetts said. "To record a race win in his debut season is an achievement he should be very proud of, and we wish Tom all the best for his future racing career."

Bennetts added that the team will aim to secure a top-line replacement for Onslow-Cole as it seeks to try and take the fight to the likes of Vauxhall, SEAT and Team Halfords in the battle for the BTCC title.

"Team RAC are committed to putting together a team capable of winning the British Touring Car Championship in 2008," he said. "We learnt a great deal in 2007 about our new BMW 320si car, and believe we can really put together a challenge for the top honours next year.

"We are currently reviewing our driver options and will announce details of these in due course."

Mat Jackson wont sign for RAC cos i shouldnt think he'd walk away from his dads team. And tbh if they take their team to WTCC aswell as BTCC then i cant see Turkington sticking around in BTCC much longer which could mean a whole new line up for 08
