Turner moves to the front at Oulton

Darren Turner moved to the top of the times at the expense of team-mate Jason Plato in the second free practice session for the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park

In a session where the field was more spread out on the timesheets, Turner posted the quickest time of the day to date with a lap of 1min 27.848secs putting him three-tenths of a second clear of Plato.

Behind the two SEAT drivers, Tom Onslow-Cole slotted into third place for VX Racing and was just 0.008secs behind the 2001 champion, while Tom Chilton in turn was just 0.001secs behind the Vectra in fourth place. Andy Jordan took fifth place with a last gap lap just half a second off the pace in the John Guest Racing Honda Integra.

Defending champion Fabrizio Giovanardi rounded out the top six just ahead of team-mate Matt Neal and current Independents' points leader Colin Turkington.

The session passed without any major incidents for the 23 drivers present, with Erkut set to miss the weekend despite the presence of his Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch in the Arkas Racing with Sunshine.co.uk garage.
