More podium glory for Jordan

Andrew Jordan was able to enjoy a trip to the podium for the second successive HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship meeting at Knockhill after securing a fine third place finish on the annual trip to Scotland.

Jordan made the trip north on the back of his maiden BTCC podium at Oulton Park and was on the pace from the outset at the Fife circuit – posting the ninth quickest time in qualifying to secure eighth on the grid once Tom Chilton's grid penalty was taken into account.

Having taken ninth in the opening race, he then repeated the feat in race two to secure his place on pole for the final race when the reverse grid draw took place.

Although he lost out off the line to both Darren Turner and Rob Collard, Jordan battled hard through the opening lap to retain his position and managed to hold third for the entire race to bring his John Guest Racing car home in podium placing.

"I got the worst start I've ever made and sat there with the wheels spinning," he said. "I had to defend pretty hard through the first corner because I had Colin Turkington and Mat Jackson alongside me. I had to be quite firm then and stand my ground, or I'd have been off into the gravel.

"It's a great result for everyone in the team, coming off a podium at Oulton Park. I want to dedicate the podium to John Plummer who died recently. He was really into his racing and his son Johnny is my number one engineer."

Having suffered from a brake issue during qualifying, Mike Jordan was forced to start from 16th place, with his best finish on race day being eleventh in both race one and race three.

"When you start back in 16th place, it makes your whole race day tough, because everyone is running the same pace,” he said. “But the pace has been good and it's been another great day for the team and our sponsors."
