Momentum building at Motorbase

Motorbase Performance team boss David Bartrum says he feels momentum is building within his team following another podium finish at Knockhill.

The team took its second top-three finish of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship campaign in Scotland, with Rob Collard adding his own second place finish in race three to the one secured by team-mate Steven Kane at Snetterton.

With the team having enjoyed a noticeable improvement in form during the second half of the season, Bartrum said was pleased with how his time are performing and said he was confident that the current performances can be maintained through the final two rounds of the year.

“We are determined to go well everywhere we go and we hope to qualify well,” he said. “It is important we go strongly as I look to build my team up and my business so we can put ourselves in the shop window for next season. We want to get a major sponsor so we have to do our job well and make sure our drivers are too.

“You can see momentum building in the team. We saw Steven get on the podium and I think it was only a matter of time before Rob got there too, although I expected him to get there first. I'm glad he has done it as it is a ghost laid to rest and hopefully we can build on it as a team.”

However, Bartrum admitted that it will be a challenge to try and fight for a victory before the end of the season, with the diesel-powered SEAT Leons remaining the cars to beat.

“The SEAT mini-cabs will continue to be a pain in the backside at the moment,” he said. “It is one of those things and Mr Gow has looked in the rule book and admitted he doesn't see anything that says that SEAT can't win. You just have to live with it.”
