Collard shines on Tempest Rally

With his HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship campaign at an end, Rob Collard took the chance to take to the rally stages at the weekend with an outing in the Tempest Rally.

Collard hired a Subaru Impreza from leading British Rally Championship outfit TEG Sport โ€“ the team which has carried Mark Higgins to second in the points standings this season โ€“ for the Aldershot-based event and was joined at the wheel by co-driver James Sunderland.

Running in Class 5 of the event, Collard took the finish in fourth place overall and second in class at the wheel of the Group N machine โ€“ edging out Karl Simmons for position by just a single second after the ten special stages.

Collard was only 14 seconds away from a place on the podium, being beaten to the final slot on the rostrum by the Mitsubishi of Martyn England.
