VX Racing has completed a three-day test at the Guadix Circuit in Spain, with double HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship title winner Fabrizio Giovanardi joined on track by team-mate Matt Neal and youngster Andrew Jordan.

Giovanardi and Neal were given the job of running through a series of modifications planned during the year for the Vauxhall Vectra, while the test gave Jordan the first chance to sample the Vectra he will drive next season for Team Eurotech, with support from the Triple Eight team.

“Andrew did a very good job,” Triple Eight principle Ian Harrison told the official series website. “He didn't put a wheel wrong, his feedback was good and he was very sensible.

“Above all, the test enabled Fabrizio and Matt to run through things we've stacked up during the season. You make a list of modifications you'd like to try and this enabled us to try them out.”

The 2009 campaign will mark the third season of racing for the Vectra in the BTCC, and Harrison admitted it would be challenging to stay on the pace as the car comes to the end of its racing lifespan.

“I think we could be in a bit of trouble next year, we may struggle,” he said. “We're coming to end of the Vectra's life in 2009 and running out of things to do with it. But that doesn't mean to say we won't be trying…”
