Plato added to Race of Champions line-up

Former British Touring Car Championship title winner Jason Plato has signed up as the latest driver who will take part in the Race of Champions at Wembley this weekend.

Plato, BTCC title winner back in 2001, becomes the fourth British driver confirmed for the end of the season spectacular – alongside fellow touring car star Andy Priaulx and F1 pairing Jenson Button and David Coulthard.

With Button and Priaulx already teamed together, it looks likely that Plato will now join forces with Coulthard for his Wembley debut.

“I'm over the moon to be taking part in The Race of Champions,” he said. “I was asked to compete a few years ago and couldn't because I was on my honeymoon at the time! But I've followed the event over the years, watching it on television, and I've always wanted to do it.

“The chance to race against racing icons is amazing – the very best of motorsport is there. So I'm really excited and I'm sure my antics on Fifth Gear will stand me in good stead.”
