Rockingham confirmed for media day

Rockingham will once again play host to the first major event on the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship schedule after being confirmed as the venue for the series' annual media day.

The event, set for Thursday 19 March, will be the third successive media launch staged as the Corby circuit, and will see teams formally revealing cars, sponsors and line-ups for the 2009 campaign.

The media day comes just over two weeks before the HiQ MSA BTCC season gets underway for real at Brands Hatch on Sunday 5 April and will also provide an early opportunity for fans to see some action as the drivers take to the track for an official test session during the afternoon.

Rockingham has confirmed that its gates will be open to the public from 1pm, with free admission and access to the BTCC paddock for those who want to seek out the stars. Public access to the pit-lane, however, will be strictly forbidden as the circuit anticipates a repeat of the 1500-strong audience that took advantage of last year's media day to get a first glimpse of the BTCC.

"We are extremely proud to be asked to host the official BTCC Media Day for a third consecutive year," circuit director Charlotte Orton remarked, "This is an excellent opportunity for us to remind people of the fantastic facilities at Rockingham.

"We are very passionate about making motorsport accessible to everyone, and this event is the perfect example. It is an excellent way for everyone to prepare for the new season."

Fans will also be able to purchase tickets to Rockingham's September BTCC round at the discounted rate of £23 per adult, representing a saving of 20 per cent on gate prices and shorn of any booking fees. Children aged 15 and under will be admitted free to the race meeting.
