Without contact in race two, I could have been right at the front with him and picked up another good result for the team, as the pace I was showing by the end of race three was really good. The car was the best it has been so far, but I got knocked off at the start and couldn't show the potential there was.
Through the weekend at Donington, Colin, Nick and myself were all running different set-ups to evaluate the car and everything that we do at the moment is for the benefit of the team to help us move forwards.
It's been a very challenging period and has been character building, but we are starting to learn what works and what doesn't with this car and we have to try and push on when we get to Thruxton.
Thruxton could be a bit hit and miss as we don't have set-up for the circuit and its very unique, but the aim will be to get a strong result that we can then carry with us to Oulton Park.
If you'd asked me after Brands Hatch, or during the test at Snetterton, if I thought we would go well at Thruxton then I would have said it would be difficult, but the progress we made at Donington me feel we could have a good weekend and with Colin having now got a win under his belt, that has to be the aim again.
People on the outside don't get to see the progress being made by us and we are working hard to ensure that we can be contenders at the front of the field.
Colin's victory is a big boost to the team and hopefully it won't be long until I'm on the top step of the podium myself celebrating my first win of the year.
With Thruxton being my home event, this weekend would be the perfect place!
Until next time,
