Well done? Should be penalised. This is motor racing not pantomime wrestling for kiddies.

Still, makes good telly and gives ITV some opportunity to try and make a soap opera out of it, so Alan Gow won't bother to stir himself.

I agree with james. if it had been plato or turner punting off a vauxhall there would be an uproar. Good racing throughout the weekend though. Bring on the next round.

Now that SEAT have relaibility Mr Alan Gow needs to think some penalties for the next year otherwise SEAT will run away with it and he the BTCC will lose audience

james, i didnt see the race, but can i take it that onslow cole was up to his usual stock car tactics?? and alex, why should seat be penalised for winning? isnt a vauxhall leading the standings? maybe THEY should therefore be "penalised".
one car or another is going to win, such is the nature of a race. putting this into WRC, should citroen be penalised. or into F1, should ferrari and mclaren be penalised when they win??????

Because it simply is unreal and unfair

Shedden said that if you are at the bumer of a SEAT before a straight at the end of it they are something like 4 car lenghts ahead.

I don't mind VX getting beaten by a BMW or the Civics or pther petrol car but the SEAT diesel if faster than everyhing else on the track

And you have 2L petrol cars against 2L Diesel car with a TURBO on it

So how can this regulations be fair

I didn't get to see the TOC/Plato clash too closely, but if it was a 'tactical' move then it is a massive shame for the series.

As for the whole SEAT illegality thing, although they won each race today, it isn't like they are dominating at the moment. In the meantime, it is nice to see competitive racing with someone taking the fight to the Vauxhalls because BMW and Honda don't look quite capable to sustaining a consistent challenge.

It will be interesting to see what Vauxhall do next year though - the new Vectra (Insignia) is a very large car, which makes me think they'll have to run the Vectra again. As such, SEAT probably will have an advantage next year, diesel or not.

The point is they are the fastest car by far, after all they got double pole in the last races.

And if tey got relaibility now imagine what will happen next year. Do you really want to see SEAT havin g double poles and winning each race next year

There were a few dubious moves in all the races, no surprise this is touring cars after all.

Seemed to me (no preference or axe to grind one way or the other) that Onslow-Cole was backing Plato up. His pace noticeably dropped as soon as he was directly in front.

He then drove into the side of the Seat when Plato did get a run on him out the hairpin, and that was that.

Jason certainly felt it was entirely Tom's fault, but he stopped short of saying it was tactical.

Onslow-Cole reportedly said that it wasn't deliberate - but to me there was no need for contact, he had been left enough room to continue directly up the straight.

As for Seat TDi superiority - I think something will need to be done to level the lap times, even if nothing much can be done to counter straight-line acceleration of a diesel.

If no adjustment is made, next season would see in the BTCC what's happening in WTCC at the moment, where the SEATs have had a major advantage for several races and only now have a weight adjustment to neuter them.

Even then, a weight penalty can only equalise lap times: diesel torque will still make it very hard to keep up on long straights, let alone pass. The only way to pass one will be to carry more speed through the previous corner but timing is critical, only the very best will be able to repeatedly do that.
