Great idea, sanitise the championship a little more, can't be having exciting starts and excitement when the advantage wears off in the latter half of the race

Why stop there, why not just keep levelling the playing field till no-one has any advantage at any point of the race and we can enjoy a lovely procession with no passing or interest of any kind.

Way to ruin the 2010 championship. BMW are at a disadvantage in other ways. There is no need for this gear rule.

IMO, all the BMW teams should quit the series in protest.

From the WTCC races I have seen, the only time we don't get a SEAT/Lacetti procession is when there is a standing start. I am not a fan of rolling starts generally, as WTCC has shown this to be the most reliable way to have an accident at the first corner, followed by 5 laps of safety car and a procession of front drive cars to the flag. Standing starts without removing rear drive cars only chance of getting to the first corner first is the best way of producing a good race, which is what I thought was the idea. How about modifying the gearing to reduce diesel cars torque advantage then ? Same principle, surely.

I think they should be allowed to run what gear they choose. Its the nature of the car and it happens to have an advantage in the first 5 seconds of the race.

Front wheel drive cars can get more heat into the front tyres a lot easier than rear wheel drive cars, are they going to make them refridgerate the front tyres before the start? or a spec tyre warmer that doesnt get the quite as warm as the BMW ones?

So there for the FWD cars should have a different ratio when it rains! As the RWD cars suffer when it rains on the starts, as much as the FWD cars suffer on the starts in the dry.

This is a very dumb change. Almost insulting.

If it aint Homologated, it dont run!
