I don't think the 206 was long enough for the WRC regulations when it entered that... but they just stuck on some enormous bumpers etc and it was fine...

I guess it depends how far out it is though... surely a Golf isn't that much longer?

Wouldn't it be better if they had one mixed class race out of the three races they have at each meeting and it would once again make it exciting when the A class catch up to the lower class and battle for position this would let more manufacturers join and it would be great entertainment. :)

What difference does it make if the car is a small hatch back? Are they looking for small grids?

What about the good old days of cameros vs minis. There is such a lack of common sense nowadays.

Alan Gow is right,

If the regulations are to be taken seriously they have to be followed end of.
There are plenty of cars to choose from. having driven a grand punto I know they are tiny, (and rubbish!)
I doubt a NGTC engine would even fit and if Gow hasnt even spoke to them then the team know nothing of the engine dimentions. a bunch of guys talking hot air.
