Uniq pulled their sponsorship from Triple 8, which was originally a one-race deal, meaning that neither Gio or Phil Glew can race for them this weekend. James Nash brings his own money.

McDowall ahead of Plato is the real headline story

STOP PRESS: BTCC officials have fined Matt Neal for his part in a clash with Robert Collard at Thruxton three weeks ago.

Honda Racing Team driver Neal and WSR's Collard clashed in the middle of the chicane in the third of Thruxton's three races. Both drivers retired with damage to their cars, Collard's BMW being spun round into a barrier.

On reviewing the incident officials deemed that Neal had "caused an avoidable collision" and have fined him £250.00 and added three penalty points to his competition licence.

Just my two penneth, but that fine is absolutely pathetic given the position of Collard at the time and the £40,000 of damage caused to Collard's car.

oh my ass was it £40,000 worth of damage, all it would have needed was new doors, and a new rear 3 quarter panel where it tapped the barrier. That is nowhere near £40,000 worth of damage to that BMW.

With ref to comment by Martin? why is it headline news that Macdowall is ahead of Plato? It's obvious he is a talented driver to be in the team and in the same car! As for Plato dont forget he is carrying 36 kilos ballast! Check out who else is carrying ballast, and where they are on the grid? You will then see it's not "headline News" lets see where they finish the race and then comment!
