BTCC » 'Incredible' record entry list for BTCC 2011

Alan Gow: I'm very, very proud about the way our 2011 season is taking shape. The fact our entry list includes ten different makes and 13 different models of cars – a record for the BTCC in the two-litre era – in what still remains a challenging financial period is, quite frankly, incredible.

I may be biased as being a FORD fan but what Team AON and Mountune have achieved with the Ford Focus in the last two seasons has definitely raised the profile and interest in the Championship. the new regulations also brought more manufacturers to the party!

Last years ford in my view. im not say this because im a Chevy fan but the fords had a speed advantage but its the past and looking at the live timing of the test session at the 2011 btcc media day the fords looks slow and Chilton once again is being out run by his team mate...i know its only testing but says alot to me.

27 Car entry list? Well we wont be seeing 27 at the opener at Brands Hatch. There will be no Daniel Welch in the Proton, no Lea Wood in his Integra, and I will be shocked if either of the Audi's are there either. In my book that makes a maximum of 23. But with Frank Wrathall's Avensis not even turning a wheel @ Media Day, and Tony Hughes's Avensis having problems I think it will probably be more like 21. Team AON have yet to announce their 3rd driver so it could be as little as 20. With reference to all the hype before the list was announced, there were a possible 35 cars taking to grid. (Even tho the max is 32) So even 27 looked a bit grim, so 20 at Brands Hatch isn't really that impressive when you consider the Porsche Carrera Cup has maxed out at 32.
