I don't get that comment - out of the first two races, the pole man had won 50% of the races. This is nowhere near 'nearly always'.

While I concede Matt Neal (polesitter) did win the 3rd, I'd be interested if anyone has this stat from last year. I'd be surprised if the pole-to-win ratio is any higher than about 50-60%

Besides, did you not enjoy the rest of the racing going on today - it's not just about watching the one car leading the pack!

2 DULL RACES? What the F**k were you watching nav? The BTCC kicked off in style yesterday. Neal in the gravel trap, Shedden's march from the back to sixth, MacDowall reprimanded (several times). A war of words starts between Shedden and Boardman. (keep an eye on that one) Rob Collard having a pop and Liam Griffin who is driving for his old team, Jordan with punctures, BTCC rookie Tony Gilham scoring 3 top ten finishes and Jackson looking to be the one taking the title fight to Plato, by scoring more points in the EX AON car than they managed with their new one! Looks to me like we are set for a great season, and with the new Turbos its WWWIIIDDDEEE open!

I took the day off work after a long day out at Brands Hatch yesterday, and I have nothing better to do with my time, so here are the stats for last year for Drivers on Pole Position taking the race win.

11 out of the 30 races were won by the polesitter. However "team orders" did play a part in that as we all know. Therefore the percentage of races won by the polesitter in 2010 is 36.63%. I hope this helps to prove a point!

I've been a bit bored so I thought i would take a look at the stats for previous years:

In 2009 there was a 39.96% change of the pole sitter winning and in 2008 there was a 43.29% chance.

So my research concludes that the chances of winning from Pole are actually reducing each year. So it would seem that the BTCC regs are correct, with ballast added/deducted. So it looks like Mr Gow IS doing things right!

Haha, thanks Chris - didn't actually think anyone would go away and do that! There ya go then, I'm not just imagining that the BTCC still provides good racing. Watching JP defending his second race win was worth it in itself - shows defence of a lead can actually be more entertaining than losing it!
