I'm surprised there is negativity towards a new manufacturer joining, something the series is really lacking. After all, save for the Civic, Cruze and new Focus, it's a fairly dated looking grid.

Not sure if their respective teams will update, but the BMWs, Avensis, A4 and Golf will be previous gen models by the start of the season, while you can't even buy a Vectra, Lacetti or Integra (never could) anymore.

Take a budget brand (one with a sporting heritage) that needs exposure, beef it up, throw some money at it and watch it panel bash on national TV! Perfect marketing tool.

It's not an MG.

As bad as the Lotus fiasco in F1.

Hmm, the same MG model that sold something like 15 cars in October and 8 in November?

UK sales figures don't lie, the public isn't interested in buying this car and I don't think entering the BTCC will help.

I don't care it's not mg or that it's sales figures are poor, with triple 8 and factory money they should be competative. The more competition the better in my view.
I've just noticed the sun sponsorship on the front bumper. That should guarantee monday morning coverage in the rag.

Regarding the low sales comments, that's precisely why they have entered BTCC with a factory-supported effort - to build exposure.

Despite the preconceptions of Chinese models, the MG 6 got a fairly decent reception from the press, but awareness of the revived brand is low because people get misty-eyed and think back to its distant past. This should help it get some visibility in the public and with Triple 8 behind it, it could be successful.

Think of it this way, Subaru were barely known before rallying, but are now icons of the sport, while Chevrolet hasn't exactly done badly out of touring car racing either.

That said, not sure about the livery...

Perhaps MG can see the bigger picture which isn't sales in the UK perhaps success over GM and Ford will still be good PR in China wherever it comes from.

@Boo

It worked for Subaru but that was helped largely by Colin and Richards efforts.

Also the legacy and Impreza were decent cars.
