A wet circuit greeted the BTCC contenders at Oulton Park for the final rounds of the championship. MG's Anthony Reid had his flippers at the ready and came home with the second fastest time at the end of the session.

13 July 2002:
MG Sport and Racing's Anthony Reid and Warren Hughes both grabbed third row starting slots in qualifying for rounds 11 and 12 of the BTCC at Croft, North Yorkshire today. While Anthony lines up fifth on the grid for tomorrow's 15-lap Sprint Race, Warren took the same position for the later Feature Race. Colin Turkington took seventh for the first race in his Team Atomic Kitten MG ZR, while teammate Gareth Howell saw his pit crew win a race against time to get him into the session.

22 June 2002:
In contrast to the wide open spaces of Le Mans, MG Sport & Racing drivers Anthony Reid and Warren Hughes took on the tight confines of Ireland's Mondello Park circuit in qualifying. In a rain hit session, both drivers hit problems, but the Team Atomic Kitten MGs came through to uphold marque honour and qualify at the front of the grid.

2 June 2002:
Anthony Reid claimed pole position for MG Sport and Racing in qualifying for Monday's British Touring Car Championshp Feature Race, and team-mate Warren Hughes made it a good day for the team by qualifying second on the grid for the Sprint Race. Silverstone saw the team's debut last year, and they showed how the MG ZS has progressed since then with a car on the front row of the grid for each race.

Anthony Reid has given MG Sport and Racing two second row starts for tomorrow's rounds five and six of the British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton. Reid lines up third for the Sprint Race and fourth for the Feature, while team-mate Warren Hughes is fifth and seventh.

A strong performance for the MG Sport and Racing team at Oulton Park this afternoon sees an MG ZS EX260 on the second row of the grid for both BTCC races at the Cheshire circuit. In tomorrow's Sprint Race, Anthony Reid lines up fourth, while for the Feature Race – later in the afternoon – Warren Hughes is third on the 29-car grid.

4 April 2002:
In the number 12 MG ZS EX260, Warren Hughes had a dramatic first British Touring Car Championship meeting of the year. From eighth on the grid in the first race, Warren slotted into third place before the first corner, and was holding that position until a sudden puncture ended his race.

Easter Monday saw two strong drives from MG Sport and Racing's Anthony Reid in the opening two rounds of the 2002 British Touring Car Championship. Straight after the races, we spoke to Anthony about the race meeting and his results, which leave the Scot third in the Drivers' points table.

After their successes at the final meeting of the 2001 British Touring Car Championship, everyone at MG Sport and Racing is working hard to prepare for the forthcoming season. Drivers Anthony Reid and Warren Hughes have been testing with the West Surrey Racing squad in Spain, honing the race-winning EX259 Touring Car for the 2002 campaign. Latest member of the MG XPOWER squad is stunt ace Terry Grant, who has thrilled crowds across the country with his stunning displays in his tiny Legends car. His first public outing in his new colours is this weekend, at the ten day long Road Racing and Superbike Show at Alexandra Palace in London.

MG made their motorsport return in 2001 - and immediately made a big impact in that high-speed world. The brand new MG Lola EX257 sportscar showed its pace at the 2001 Le Mans 24-Hour race, the cars easily quickest in the LMP 675 class. Later in the year, MG Sport and Racing took their first win in the British Touring Car Championship. MG were back in style!

MG Sport and Racing's Jonny Kane has just returned from the US where he tested the MG Lola EX257 Le Mans car at the famous Sebring circuit in Florida. As well as the opportunity to further develop the already rapid sportscar, the test was used as a demonstration of the car for some very interested American sports car teams.

A former racer, an addition to his MG Sport and Racing role, Rob has led the development of many vehicles including: a new range of high performance MG saloons, the Rover 75 Tourer and the MG ZT-T sportswagon.

MG Sport & Racing are extending their UK circuit racing involvement for 2002. In addition to their Touring Car campaign – the company having taken a win at the final BTCC meeting of 2001 – they are now to sponsor the MG XPOWER K Sports 1600 Cup, one of the successful sportscar championships run by the Clubman's Register. All cars entered in the series will continue to be powered by the 1.6-litre K Series engine and will carry the logo 'Powered by MG XPOWER'.

Kane joins MG's saloon stars at Estoril enduro.
14 November 2001:
Jonny Kane, part of MG Sport and Racing's Le Mans team, joined British Touring Car Championship regulars Anthony Reid and Warren Hughes to give the MG ZR 160 saloon its race debut at Estoril in Portugal last weekend. Driving a virtually road-specification car, the trio contested a 500km endurance race against a packed field of race cars - and brought the MG home a creditable 16th.

Warren Hughes claimed the first pole position for the new MG ZS EX259 Touring Car, and then, a day later, team-mate Anthony Reid notched up the team's first race win. We caught up with Warren at the end of the Brands Hatch race-day.

Warren Hughes gave MG Sport and Racing their first BTCC pole position by setting quickest time in qualifying at Brands Hatch today. The Geordie's time sees his MG ZS EX259 on pole for tomorrow's 50-lap Feature Race – out-pacing the previously dominant Vauxhall Astras who have set the standard all season.
