Turner pleased to see Silverstone back.

Darren Turner says he is excited at the prospect of returning to Silverstone this weekend as the circuit makes its comeback on the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship calendar.

The Home of British Motor Racing was missing from the schedule last year but returns for 2008 to play host to the penultimate round of the year – which will once again be held on the shorter National layout at the Northamptonshire venue.

SEAT Sport ace Turner heads to what will be his home race on the back of his second win of the season last time out at Knockhill and with the diesel-powered Leon expected to be the car to beat, he should be a front-runner on a weekend he expects to be one filled with excitement.

"Even though the Silverstone National Circuit isn't the most challenging compared to some of the other tracks we race at during the season, it's a lot of fun," he said. "Copse is a high speed corner and there are always a lot of shenanigans going on in the complex at the end of the lap.

"The lap isn't very long, so it makes it very interesting for the spectators because we lap in under seventy-five seconds and all the cars run close together throughout the race. The BTCC needs the best British circuits on its calendar.

"I missed Silverstone when it wasn't on the BTCC calendar last year and I'm really looking forward to going back there this season."
