Rob Collard has followed the lead of team-mate Steven Kane by being named as winner of the latest HiQ champagne moment, voted for by fans of the British Touring Car Championship.
Like Kane, Collard secured the honour of the back of a podium finish during the most recent rounds of the season, with the former Independents champion taking second place behind Darren Turner in the final race of the weekend at Knockhill.
Collard polled 77 per cent of the fans' votes in a huge winning margin and will now be presented with a bottle of champagne at Silverstone by Denise Thompson of the Wirral, who was picked at random to present the award.
“I'm delighted to have won the Champagne Moment and overwhelmed by the number of people who voted for me,” he said. “It really is an honour to have your performance recognised by the fans in this way and I want to thank everyone who voted for me. Good things always seem to happen for me when I visit Knockhill and this award is another one.
“My team mate Steven Kane has already won a Champagne Moment award this season so we're even now, and I hope we can repay all the people who have supported us by giving them something to cheer about at Silverstone this weekend.”
