Team RAC has announced it will link up with male cancer charity Everyman for the 2008 RAC Charity Track Day, with drivers Colin Turkington and Stephen Jelley set to be joined at the event by the current Miss England, Laura Coleman.
Laura will be one of the celebrities to take part in the event at Rockingham, with Turkington and Jelley having taken the chance to meet up with her ahead of the event – with both donning fake moustaches to show their support to Everyman's 'TacheBack' campaign which runs each September.
Prior to the Rockingham event, Turkington and Jelley head to Brands Hatch this weekend for the final rounds of the 2008 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship campaign, with Turkington looking to wrap up the Independents' title for the second straight season.
He currently leads fellow BMW racer Mat Jackson by 22 points, while the pair are also embroiled in a heated battle for third overall in the drivers' standings, and Turkington admitted he has a good chance to take the honours at a circuit where he has run well in the past.
“Personally, it's been a great season and lots of podium finishes have put me, and Team RAC, in a good position,” he said. “Heading into Brands Hatch, my aim is to secure the Independents Championship and I've got the chance to do so on one of my favourite tracks.”
Jelley meanwhile endured a tough start to his first year in the BTCC having come into the series from F3 but having produced some encouraging performances in recent meetings, he said he was looking to end the year on a high.
“Brands Hatch was the first place I raced at this level, and the first course I get to return to,” he said. “I've learnt a lot this year and I'm hopeful that these factors combined will translate into my best performance for Team RAC to date.”
