Adam Christodoulou and Alexander Sims will go head-to-head for the Formula Renault UK title as the regular season draws to a close this weekend at Brands Hatch.
CR Scuderia ace Christodoulou heads into the weekend as the hot favourite to clinch the title and has led the points standings since the second race of the opening round back in March.
Seven wins over the course of the year have given him a 34 point lead – after dropped scores - returning to Brands Hatch for the final rounds and Christodoulou said he was determined to try and wrap up the crown.
“The pressure is on but I've been in this situation before in karting,” he said. “We were strong here at the start of the year and I just need to repeat that, keep it clean and make sure nothing daft happens. It will mean a lot to me to win it, and even more for my career.”
Christodoulou will take the title with two top-six finishes or if he finishes ahead of Sims in either race, but the Manor Competition ace said he hadn't given up hope of overhauling his rival to lift the crown.
“It's a big ask but we have to approach it in the same way as all the other weekends,” he said. “I feel I got the maximum from the car at each event.
“I'm under no illusions that it's a struggle to win from here but anything can happen in racing as we saw at Silverstone.”
