Rob Huff has completed the shakedown of the first Chevrolet Lacetti that will be entered into the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship by debuting team Tempus Sport.

Huff, who races for Chevrolet's WTCC outfit, completed the shakedown test at the MIRA proving ground with RML conducting the test before the car is delivered to Tempus Sport in time for the start of its winter testing programme.

The car has been completely rebuilt following the end of the WTCC season and fitted with a new engine in preparation for its move into the BTCC.

"It was a pretty straightforward shakedown just to check everything is ready for the guys at Tempus to take on the car and everything went well," Huff said. "I think the Lacetti will definitely be very strong next year in the UK. It was a great car for me in the World Championship where I finished in third place in the drivers' championship this year, with quite a conservative approach, so I think it should definitely be a top six car in the UK.

"The guys at Tempus know what they are doing and there are people there who have previous experience with RML which is certainly an advantage as they know the car intimately. Harry has progressed very well as a driver and he performed consistently in the top ten this year, in what was effectively a 2006 Lacetti. The '08 car is leaps and bounds ahead of where we were at in '06, so it should be exactly what Harry wants to go forwards."

Tempus team director Richard Coleman said he pleased to have taken delivery of the first car for 2009, with the second due to arrive from RML in the New Year.

"It's great to have the first of our Lacettis and RML have delivered the car exactly as you'd expect from a first class professional operation," he said. "It was also great to have Rob Huff conduct the shakedown after having such a good season this year, his input was invaluable. The next step will be getting Harry out in the car for the test programme, and I can't wait for it to begin."
