CRS Racing has revealed its driver line-up for the 2009 Formula Renault UK Championship season as the newly named outfit looks to reclaim the crown it secured last season with Adam Christodoulou.
Matias Laine, Josh Scott, Harry Tincknell and Lewis Williamson will all drive the red, white and blue cars during 2009 for the defending champions with Laine, Tinckell and Williamson all moving into car racing for the first time. Scott meanwhile has past experience of both Formula Ford and Formula Renault.
“The choice of drivers for us in 2009 has been a fairly straightforward process,” team director Andrew Kirkaldy said. “It was important for us to have a second-year driver and in Josh we have someone very capable of following in Adam's footsteps.
“Both Matias and Harry have come from very established karting careers and have shown very well in testing. I expect them to do very well this season, especially given the fact there are not so many drivers returning to the championship from 2008, giving a field of mainly rookie drivers.
“Lewis was a real revelation in the Winter Series and during testing. I had little or no knowledge of him before he arrived with CRS to test. His results in the winter were very impressive and I hope this continues into this year's championship.”
Kirkaldy revealed that CRS will enter into a new partnership with fellow single-seater outfit Hitech Junior for the season ahead.
“In 2009 we will be joining forces with Hitech to share information and data between the teams,” he said. “This will be a great benefit to us and Hitech, giving us a picture of performance over eight cars instead of just four.
“There are many ways in which two teams working together can be of benefit and I am sure that it will help us in our bid to win the championship again in 2009.”
