Stephen Jelley has continued with his preparations for the new HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season by taking part in the 25th running of the Hastings Half Marathon.
The Team RAC driver was one of 5,000 people who tackled the 13.1 mile course, which started on the Hastings seafront before taking in a route around the East Sussex town.
Jelley completed the course in 1hr 29mins 19secs which was barely 27 minutes behind overall winner Kiplimo Kimutai from Kenya.
“This is the third half marathon I've taken part in and it's probably the toughest one I've done yet,” he said. “The first part of the course was a gradual uphill ascent, which was quite gruelling, and then there was a downhill section where you had to be careful not to pick up too much speed.
“I'm really happy with my time and taking part in the half marathon has been great motivation to keep my fitness levels up so I'm in great shape for Brands Hatch next month.”
Jelley's team-mate Colin Turkington took a more relaxed approach to the event, as he drove the course ahead of the field in the Team RAC show car.
