Ahead of the annual HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship media day at Rockingham tomorrow [Thursday], Motorbase Performance has announced a new title-sponsorship deal with Airwaves for the 2009 season.
The team, which will run cars for Rob Collard and BTCC debutant Jonathan Adam this season, will run under the Airwaves BMW banner as a result of the deal, with the new-look BMW 320sis set to appear on track for the first time during the test session scheduled to take place on Thursday afternoon at the Northamptonshire venue.
Having secured the new backing for the season ahead, the team will now hope to build on the impressive finish to the 2008 campaign, which saw Collard and Steven Kane take multiple podiums during the second half of the year as Motorbase outscored all its Independent rivals in the final five rounds.
“We're absolutely ecstatic to have secured such a hugely recognisable brand in Airwaves as our team title sponsor,” Motorbase chief David Bartrum said. “They have a proven record in motorsport and, with the tremendous end we had to 2008, we feel we have a superb chance of competing for race wins and podiums from the start of this season. It's great news for the championship that a brand like Airwaves feels it is the place to be, and we're eager to impress as we continue to build a championship-winning team.''
Motorbase has also inked other sponsorship deals with the likes of Leyland Paints, SAS International and Tag Worldwide for the season ahead.
“We are also delighted to welcome on board a number of other major new sponsors for the 2009 season, including Leyland Paints, SAS International, Tag Worldwide and Teng Tools,” Bartrum continued. “We are very grateful for their support and we hope all of these sponsors will be able to share in a very successful season for Airwaves BMW in 2009.”
