Jordan suffers mixed emotions on debut

Andrew Jordan admitted he had mixed emotions following his first HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship race weekend as part of the factory Vauxhall team at Brands Hatch.

The teenager went into the weekend looking to build on some impressive testing performances during the winter at the wheel of his Vauxhall Vectra and qualified in an impressive fifth place on the grid for his first race with the team.

A fine start to the opening race saw him jump up to fourth place, ahead of team-mate and defending champion Fabrizio Giovanardi, and he battled his way up to second place before being sidelined by a driveshaft failure.

Despite starting down the field as a result for race two, the 19-year-old stormed through the pack to finish race two in fifth and looked set to add further points to his tally before a transmission problem put him out of the final race while running in sixth.

"You can't help but be disappointed to retire from races,” he admitted, “but the weekend certainly exceeded my expectations.

"I was quite apprehensive approaching my first race weekend with VX Racing, but I was really, really pleased with how I performed.”
