Fresh from a triple top ten finish at Brands Hatch, Dan Eaves will hope for more points for the Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing team as he returns to the scene of his finest hour in the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship this weekend.
Eaves became the first – and so far only – driver to win all three races in the same day back in 2005, when he secured a hat-trick of victories at the wheel of a Team Halfords Honda Integra.
While he admits a repeat of that success isn't likely to happen this time around in his second race meeting at the wheel of his bio-fuelled SEAT Leon, Eaves said he was hopeful that improvements made to the car since the season opener would allow him to spring a surprise and bring home more solid points for the Clyde Valley-run outfit.
“It seems like a long time since the first round,” he said. “We have changed a few things on the car since then, to suit Thruxton and hope that they enable us to build on the performances at Brands.
“It will be great to be back as last time I was at Thruxton, I won all three races. The circuit suits my driving style so I'd like to think I could surprise a few people, and bring the car home in the points against some tough opposition.”
Team-mate Adam Jones will also look to impress on his second outing for the team, although he admitted that Thruxton is a circuit where anything could happen.
“Thruxton is a tough place to come for the teams, cars and drivers, and we are all working on improving the cars to give us some strong top ten finishes over the three races," he said. "We feel we have prepared well but this is racing and anything can happen.”
