Having endured a nightmare weekend at Thruxton last time out, Dan Eaves will now the third round of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season after Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing elected to withdraw him from race day.
The team had worked round the clock to repair Eaves' damaged car following his three incidents at Thruxton, with the car being completed at the last moment to allow him to take his place in the field for the weekend.
However, the opening free practice session saw Eaves suffer engine failure and the team has now taken the decision to keep its spare engine in case it is needed by team-mate Adam Jones on race day.
“Obviously I am very disappointed it has not worked out this weekend,” Eaves said. “After Thruxton I was really looking forward to Donington and felt I would have been competitive here. I am here to help the team however I can this weekend and will now look forward to Oulton Park, where I have traditionally been strong.”
