Fabrizio Giovanardi admits he will need to be careful on race day after being demoted to the back of the grid for the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship event at Donington Park.
The Italian had posted the quickest time during qualifying for the third round of the year, but then saw his times disallowed after his VX Racing Vectra failed to restart on the weighbridge at the end of the session.
While that handed pole to team-mate Andrew Jordan, it also saw Giovanardi demoted to the back of the pack and he said he would need to be careful in the three races as he seeks to make his way through the pack.
"OK, it's happened,” he said. “I cannot change it so there is no point to be angry. It makes it difficult tomorrow. I will have to take some risks and taking risks means you can get involved in some situations so I need to be careful also... it's not an easy situation when the grid is so competitive.
“I just don't know what to say. The car was just perfect until the end when something happened. I'm really disappointed as we did such a good job to improve the set up and the car felt great.”
