Adam Jones posted the quickest time during second HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship practice session at Oulton Park to move the Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing team to the head of the timesheets.
Although the times weren't as quick as those during the morning, Jones was able to post an impressive time of 1min 27.839secs with only minutes remaining in the session to put him ahead of the Team RAC BMW of Colin Turkington. Jones actually posted two times quicker than the BMW despite being only 0.096secs faster on the timesheets, boosting confidence for the Team CVR-run outfit ahead of qualifying later this afternoon.
Jason Plato was third quickest in his Racing Silverline Chevrolet Lacetti having led the way for much of the session, while Stephen Jelley slotted into fourth place on his final lap in the second of the RAC cars. Mat Jackson was fifth as he looked to get more mileage under his belt after hitting the barriers at Druids during the morning.
Showing that the BMWs will be strong this weekend, Jonathan Adam ensured there were three of the rear-wheel drive cars in the top six as he set the sixth quickest time ahead of Harry Vaulkhard's Chevrolet and the first of the VX Racing Vectras in the hands of FP1 pace setter Fabrizio Giovanardi.
Points leader Matt Neal was down in twelfth just ahead of the Sunshine.co.uk Honda Integra of Paul O'Neill – with the local driver being the final man within a second of the quickest time.
New boy James Nash improved during the session to set the 14th quickest time.
