Onslow-Cole secures surprise Aon outing

Tom Onslow-Cole will make a surprise return to the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship at Croft this weekend after being named as a late replacement for Alan Morrison in the Team Aon line-up.

The former Team RAC and Vauxhall driver was due to be in action in the North East at the wheel of the doctor's car but was given the opportunity to return to racing action when Morrison was ruled out of the weekend.

Onslow-Cole proved to be a ready-made replacement for the Ford team and will now join Tom Chilton on track at the wheel of a Focus ST.

“It's come as a bit of a shock,” he told BTCC.net. “I'd only just got out of bed at 8 o' clock this morning when I got the call. I got here like a shot!

“I'm in Alan's race suit which thankfully fits me and the seat seems to fit as well. It's just a great opportunity – the timing couldn't be better because the team is making such great progress with the car. I've just been told to get into it and drive and don't bend it!”

Team boss Mike Earle admitted Onslow-Cole was a 'great replacement' although he played down expectations for the youngster given his lack of seat time in recent months.
