Adam: A win isn’t far away

Jonathan Adam says he is confident that a first win in the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship isn't far away as the second half of the season gets underway this weekend at Snetterton.

The Airwaves BMW driver did take the chequered flag first in the final race of the weekend at Brands Hatch, but was stripped of victory following the chequered flag for his overtaking move on Jason Plato at Paddock Hill Bend.

Although the following meeting at Thruxton ended in disappointment, Adam went on to score a second podium finish of the year at Oulton Park during round four and after a solid show in mid-season testing, the rookie said he was targeting wins and podiums through the remainder of the season to move up the championship standings.

“I am really looking forward to getting back to work at Snetterton this weekend,” he said. “We had some valuable testing during the break which allowed us to try a range of different setup options we wanted to look at. It will stand us in very good stead when we hit the track at Snetterton and I think we can show some really good pace there.

“I know all the other drivers and teams in the championship have been working hard too and given how close it was in the first half of the season, and during summer testing, I think it will be a pretty level playing field this weekend. With so many people capable of scoring wins this season it's hard to just be in the mix, but as a driver that's the kind of challenge you really enjoy testing yourself against.

“I'm really up for the second half of the season as I think I should be a little bit higher in the championship standings than I am just now. I feel a win is on the cards for me soon though, and I will be pushing as hard as possible to get on the podium in every race.”
