Jackson targets Snetterton repeat

31 July 2009

With the illness he suffered at Croft now firmly behind him, Mat Jackson will have his sights set on victory as the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season resumes at Snetterton this weekend.

The Racing Silverline driver picked up victory back at Thruxton at the wheel of his Chevrolet Lacetti but saw the first half of the year draw to a disappointing close at Croft, when a bought of food poisoning saw him forced to withdraw from the weekend after crashing out of the first race.

Having had plenty of time to recover over the summer break, Jackson will now look to add to his win tally at a circuit where he took victory last season and where the Lacetti is expected to run strongly.

“I'm back to full fitness and raring to go,” he said. “I had a rough time at Croft – there's nothing worse than seeing the car ready and not being able to go out. But I wouldn't have done myself any favours if I'd tried racing when I was that ill. It took a few weeks until I was back up to full strength, but now I can't wait to hit the track.

“I had a strong win at Snetterton last year and I intend to do the same on Sunday. In fact, my Racing Silverline team-mate Jason Plato took a couple of victories at Snetterton last year too, so this should be a strong event for us. The circuit's high-speed characteristics should play into the hands of the Lacetti and I'm sure its strong engine will do us proud.”
