On the back of his emotional podium finish at Snetterton, Paul O'Neill has become the latest winner of the HiQ Champagne Moment award, voted for by BTCC fans after each round of the season.

The Team sunshine.co.uk with Tech-Speed driver secured his first top three finish since the 2003 season during the opening race of the weekend in Norfolk, and followed it up with two more top six finishes later in the day.

Such was the popularity of O'Neill's return to the podium, he has now secured the highest number of votes for any driver since the Champagne Moment was launched last season, with more than 300 fans selecting the Widnes racer to win the award.

O'Neill came home ahead of Jason Plato and Fabrizio Giovanardi in the results and will receive his prize of a bottle of champagne from BTCC fan Tracy Blake at Knockhill this weekend.

"It's a fantastic honour to win HiQ's Champagne Moment, and to receive so many votes in the process is just great," O'Neill said. "It was a wonderful feeling to be back on the podium and the reception I got was one that will live with me for a long time.

"HiQ's Champagne Moment will give me a permanent reminder and I am so grateful for all the support received."
